Deuce Purgatory

Pixel character animation, music, and sound for an upcoming indie short film.

I loved working on this project! I was responsible for:

  • Creating wacky pixel personas for the film’s main characters (Aseprite)
  • Visual design – Pixel logo, background, effects
  • Storyboard and animatic (Storyboard Pro)
  • Pixel animation and compositing (Godot Engine + Aseprite Wizard)
  • Original 90s-style game music — Sega Genesis meets Barbie PC game
  • Sound design and video editing

Process

I animated the graphics in Godot Engine, using the Aseprite Wizard plugin to efficiently add the characters directly from Aseprite! This method opened the door to create an authentic retro look — a CRT shader, game-like particle effects, and pixel-snapped motion and rotation.

Animatic

Many of the graphics were created for both widescreen and portrait formats.
